St. Josephine Virtual High School Introduces New Logo and Mascot

St. Josephine Virtual High School is named after St. Josephine Bakhita, a Canossian sister of African descent (Institute of St. Magdalene of Canossa). In the 2021-2022 school year, a new school logo paid homage to St. Josephine’s unique headpiece. The logo highlights our Catholic faith and virtual learning using the cross at the centre of the design and the screen surrounding it.

During the first week of the 2021-2022 school year, students and staff submitted 200 suggestions for potential mascots. The Mascot Madness mirrored the NCAA Final Four basketball tournament consisting of 32 rounds, including Sweet 16, Elite 8, Final 4 and the Final. Two mascots went head-to-head in a series of matches, with the more popular option advancing to the next round. Over 500 students and staff voted in each round. The finals saw a record 590 students and staff cast their ballots. The fierce and mighty dragon reigned victorious over its opponent in the final, claiming the title of St. Josephine Virtual High School’s official mascot.
