Their Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, visited Assumption Catholic School as part of their three-day tour of Canada. Their visit to the school was to promote youth literacy and spotlight the experience of newcomer families to Assumption and the community organizations that support their transition.
Her Royal Highness read to students and discussed the importance of literacy for the young and old. At the same time, His Royal Highness met with parents and staff who had recently arrived in Canada. He spent time listening to them speak about their experiences. His genuine interest in the children’s lived experiences left a positive impression on all who met him.
