All Saint Students – Making A Difference Art by Heart

The war in Ukraine has touched the hearts of Canadians and citizens around the globe. Gestures of support can be seen both small and large in our schools, including the efforts of 70 All Saints High School Visual Arts students who made a difference one mixed-media art piece at a time. The students created “art hearts” to raise awareness and donations for the Canada Ukraine Foundation, which provides humanitarian relief for the people of Ukraine.

All Saint educators say the project benefited students in more ways than one. The artwork allowed students to research, reflect, question, and act on war as discerning believers and lifelong learners. This project is an example of Deep Learning practiced in all Ottawa Catholic School Board schools. Deep Learning creates an environment where students are encouraged to connect authentic experiences to their learning in school.

More than $8,000 was raised as a result of the art project. The funds raised will help provide food, medical supplies, and immediate need to the refugees, displaced persons, and victims.
